Yoga & Song : A Movement Workshop for Artists
June 10, 2017
The Al & Malka Green Artists' Health Centre
This one-of-a-kind workshop, hosted by The Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre, presents yoga as a tool for artists to find freedom of self-expression in both their artistic media and the sweet mundane of everyday existence.
Life is noisy these days. With the power of social media, artists can feel overwhelmed about how to share their stories, pictures, and talents with a world that is so connected to the loudest voices in the room. Madison Arsenault and Mark Wilkinson, guest yoga teachers and classically trained singers, invite you to disconnect from the world’s expectations in order to reconnect with yourself.
Over a two-hour period, Madison and Mark will guide you through a heart-opening and soothing yoga practice that will, surely, be a full mind-body-spirit experience. Throughout the practice, our singing yogis will share their most authentic voices through songs, chants, and mantras to take you deeper into your practice and, ultimately, yourself. You will feel the healing power of sound, vibration, breath, gentle words, and music, all as a means to remember why you are an artist and, more importantly, the human being behind the art.
When the body, mind, spirit, and voice all move authentically, your heart will know. Join us to reset, restore, and re-ignite your internal flame, your beautiful confidence, and your genuine voice that has been meant to ring true the entire time.
No experience required. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water.
The older I get, the less impressed I become with originality. These days, I’m far more moved by authenticity. If your work is authentic enough, believe me – it will feel original.

“The artists are the storytellers. We’re the story keepers. And the stories that a culture tells are in fact its guidebook.”
