STRESSED! How to handle an artists’ life in 9 sessions

May 02, 2019

Dance Studio, The Al & Malka Green Artists' Health Centre, Toronto Western Hospital | 4:00 - 6:00PM

Stress is a tricky part of life. Too much of it, and you’re a blob on the floor. Too little of it, and you’re a blob on the floor. For artists, stress comes not only from the normal pressures of life, but also from the precarious nature of the arts sector which usually means too little time, too little money and so much to manage.

We hear a lot about stress at Artists’ Health Alliance and we’re here to help. Learn something new, refresh what you already know and connect with other artists who share your struggles. Our workshops offer knowledge from arts medicine experts, practical strategies tailored to artists and insight gleamed from the lived experiences of the artists in the room.

Accessibility

The workshop venue (room and building) is wheelchair accessible, including the bathrooms. Gender neutral bathrooms are available on the same floor as the workshop. The nearest subway station is Bathurst Station, which is wheelchair accessible. Accessible Bathurst streetcars are scheduled to be available starting in fall 2018.

We aim to offer a positive learning experience open to all. To that end, these workshops have two guidelines for participation. First, do what’s good for you. Second, be mindful of others. Through these two principles, we respect that everyone has different ways of learning, that health is unique to each person and that everyone in the room is an adult who has agency over their own learning experience.

These workshops abide by the Artists’ Health Alliance Accessibility Policy. If you could benefit from additional support, please let us know and we will do our best. You can provide details when filling out the registration form or contact us directly.

In order to prioritize accessibility, our workshops are Pay-What-You-Can. Anyone is welcome to attend at no cost. Contributions help cover costs and subsidize attendance. Suggested contributions: $7, $15, $25 or $35 per person, per workshop.
